Medical & Life science

Life_science1There are a number of applications within Medical and Life science that can take advantage of the fast switching speed, high contrast etc. of the DLP® technology.

Photo Therapy
Traditional light theraphy or phototheraphy consists of exposure to daylight or to specific wavelengths of light. The light is administered for a prescribed amount of time and, in some cases, to a specific time of day.

Phototheraphy is used among others for treatment of acne, psoriasis and for wound healing.A photo therapy system based on the DLP® technology offers great flexibility w.r.t illuminating exactly the problem area, avoiding unnecessary and potentially hazardous UV exposure.

Such a system can scan the body for areas to be treated and create images on the DMD that exactly replicates the areas to be treated.

VISITECH’s LUXBEAM Light engines offer UV optimized optics and functionality supporting the above application.

Chemical Analysis
Spectroscopy is the study of light that is emitted or reflected from materials and its variation in energy with wavelength.

In a system with grating and a photo sensor, the DMD can be set up to illuminate a chemical sample with different wavelengths to give a spectral response of the sample.

The high resolution DMDs of up to 1920 x 1200 pixels offers the ability for high accuracy measurements.

The fast switching speed of up to 32 kfps enables the possibility for real-time measurments.

VISITECH’s LUXBEAM light engines offers a very good starting point for fast realization of product prototypes and ready to manufacture products.

Microscope Overlay
Users of microscopes often have the need for monitoring additional information compared to what is seen through a standard microscope. This additional information can be inserted into the image by adding an overlay picture from a DLP projector.

A typical application is surgical microscopes, where surgeons can read real time vital patient data while operating.

Very high contrast ratio and the very wide color gamut makes the DLP® technology ideal for overlay pictures for microscopes.

The LUXBEAM light engine series is a perfect starting point for the development of overlay projectors:

• Small size optics
• Effective LED light sources
• Flexible input/output signaling
