Following a customer request, VISITECH put together a prototype for a low brightness overlay in a near-to-eye application.
This LUXBEAM® 2000 light engine was built from the following VISITECH building blocks:
In order to accommodate our customer’s requirements for this particular light engine, our engineers focused on developing:
  • Formatter functionality through FPGA and software adaptations
  • Input signal electronics board
  • Custom Optical design
  • Mechanical design
  • Thermal design
For this application, the light output was required to be very low. The result was a higher heat build up, so Thermal Design was a key element in the design process. This design was realized with RGB LEDs and no colour wheel.  The resolution required was XGA (1024 x 768) and the contrast ratio was 2000:1
