VISITECH is prime contractor on the project “Evaluation of a Commercial Digital Micro-Mirror Device for Multi-Object Spectrometers" for the European Space Agency (ESA).
A Mid Term Review (MTR) has been held at the test facility Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille (LAM) on April 23rd, with participants from ESA/ESTEC, INAF/IASF-BO, LAM and VISITECH.
VISITECH has designed, manufactured and tested dedicated DC2K DLP boards, and LAM has designed and prepared new thermal-vacuum optical test equipment to be used to optically characterize the DMD performance while in vacuum and cooled down below the freezing point.A Mid Term Review (MTR) has been held at the test facility Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille (LAM) on April 23rd, with participants from ESA/ESTEC, INAF/IASF-BO, LAM and VISITECH.
The first preliminary test results have been produced and were presented to ESA/ESTEC at the meeting in Marseille.
The DMD has been tested at low temperatures in vacuum and the mirrors were observed to operate as intended. A preliminary TID radiation test has also been carried out with promising results.
ESA deemed the MTR successful and the test campaign is continuing in close collaboration with ESTEC.
