Optical measurement technology was chosen after a prestudy in which multiple measurement technologies were considered and analyzed. The requirement for extreme measurement accuracy and resolution on large mechanical items resulted in use of non-contact optical measurement system in combination with ultra-stable robot systems.

“This succesful project shows that optical measurement technology is superior to tactile systems when it comes to measurement of special mechanical items with steep shapes and need for complete 3D surface analysis" says HW senior engineer Endre Kirkhorn.
